Who We Are

　　Established in 1985 in Beijing, The China International Exchange Association (CIEA) is a national non-governmental organization dedicated to people-to-people international cultural exchanges. Its mission is to promote mutual understanding and co-operation between the Chinese people and the people of other countries. This is accomplished through its various exchange activities and Economy, thus contributing to China's economic development, scientific and technological progress, cultural prosperity and world peace.

Who Sits on the CIEA Council

　　The governing body of the CIEA is the plenary session of its Council. Henry Ying Tung Fok, the vice chairmen of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, is the perennial reputation chairman. Mr. Abulaiti , the vice chairmen of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, is the reputation chairman. Chai Zemin is the chairman ， he who is the first ambassador to halt the United States and Vice Minister of China Foreign Affairs. This Council is composed of nearly a hundred famous scientists, writers, artists, scholars, entrepreneurs and celebrities. Day to day operations are controlled by the CIEA secretariat, which administers the offices and departments responsible for specific exchange programs and administrative affairs. It also operates several cultural businesses in the fields of video & audio products, publication and art performance. The CIEA works closely with many external exchange organizations located in over two dozen of China's provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions.

What We Do

　　Approved by the central government, the CIEA has the power of invitation and engages in a wide-range of exchange activities related to fields such as literature, art, social sciences, humanities, science and technology, education, physical culture, religion, journalism and publishing. These activities include artistic performances, exhibitions, academic conferences, symposiums, public lectures, seminars, the joint production of film or TV programs, and publishing ventures, etc..

　　Since its founding, the CIEA has received almost 1,500 foreign delegations, groups and individuals, and about 20,000 people from Asia, Europe, America, Africa and Oceania. It has sent many Chinese groups to visit more than 20 foreign countries and regions. Through these international cultural exchanges, the CIEA has formed strong friendships and cooperative relations with many foreign non-governmental organizations, groups, and individuals. The CIEA has also built up a good reputation and credibility in China and abroad.

　　CIEA has become an indispensable tool in China's communication with the outside world and is also an integral part of her open policy. In the twenty-first century, the CIEA will strive to make even greater contributions to the development of China's international cultural exchange, thus creating a safer world for us all
